Apixia Phosphor (PSP) Plates

Apixia Phosphor Storage Plates (PSPs) provide a thin, flexible and reusable imaging medium for compatible dental phosphor plate scanning systems. The plates combine the familiar positioning characteristics and patient comfort of traditional intraoral film with a digital radiography workflow, allowing exposed images to be scanned, viewed and stored electronically without conventional film-processing chemicals.

Designed for use with Apixia PSP imaging systems, the plates can be exposed using a dental X-ray unit, removed from their protective barrier envelope and processed through a compatible phosphor plate scanner. After the image has been read and the plate properly erased, the PSP can be prepared for subsequent use. Their flexible construction can make positioning more comfortable than rigid intraoral sensors for many patients.

Scanner Compatibility

Apixia PSPs are designed for use with compatible phosphor storage plate scanning systems. Scanner compatibility should be verified by specific scanner model rather than by manufacturer or brand name alone, as different models within the same product family may require different PSP technologies.

Air Techniques ScanX Notice: Do not assume compatibility with every Air Techniques ScanX scanner. The ScanX Swift View 2.0 (G8900A), for example, requires Air Techniques ScanX IDX phosphor storage plates and cannot read standard non-IDX PSPs such as these Apixia plates.

If using these plates with a scanner other than an Apixia PSP system, confirm the scanner manufacturer's current plate specifications before ordering or use.

Care and Infection-Control Notice: PSPs should be protected from scratches, bending, contamination, excessive light and other damage that may affect image quality. Use a correctly sized hygienic barrier envelope for each patient and follow the plate and scanner manufacturer's instructions for handling, cleaning, storage and reuse.
